Respiratory therapists specialize in treating acute and chronic respiratory conditions, including asthma, cardiac arrest, drowning, blockages, anaphylaxis reactions, emphysema, lung infections and cancers. Under the guidance of a physician, they work in all units within a hospital, including the ICU, Pediatric ICU, Neonatal ICU, ER, sleep and pulmonary labs, or in nursing homes and home health settings.
