They conduct many diagnostic and analytic procedures such as evaluating lung capacity, performing chest physiotherapy, monitoring cardiopulmonary systems, checking patients’ tissue specimens, and conducting pulmonary function tests. A primary and vital task of respiratory therapists is the management of ventilators and artificial breathing devices for those who have breathing problems.
