American Traveler seeks a Speech-Language Pathologist for an acute care hospital position requiring bedside swallow evaluation experience and MN state licensure (license required if applicable).

Details

• Acute care hospital setting split between inpatient rehab and acute care nursing units
• Focus on dysphagia and swallowing disorders in the acute care setting
• Patient population includes adults with CVA, degenerative diseases, dysarthria, dysphagia, TBI, and nervous system disorders
• Performs bedside swallow evaluations and treatments
• May perform Modified Barium Swallow Studies and video fluoroscopy swallow evaluations
• Manages diet order modifications and use of thickening agents
• Works with trach/vent dependent patients
• Utilizes adaptive equipment, alternative and augmentative communication devices, and communication boards
• Epic charting system used for documentation
• 5x8-hour day shifts, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
• Required to work every 5th weekend (Saturday and Sunday)

Requirements

• Active Minnesota SLP license required if applicable
• CCC-SLP certification required
• BLS certification required
• At least 1 year of experience required
• Bedside swallow evaluation experience required
• Acute care experience highly preferred
• Video fluoroscopy swallow evaluation experience preferred
• Conducting and interpreting Modified Barium Swallow Studies preferred
• Pending licenses not accepted

Additional Information

• Level II Trauma, Magnet-designated teaching hospital with 479 staffed beds
• Conducts patient assessments, evaluations, discharge planning, and plan of care documentation
• Provides patient and family education
• Performs oral peripheral exams as part of evaluation process
• First-time travelers accepted
• Candidates must not reside within 25 miles of the facility
• Maximum of 7 days RTO permitted, with no RTO during the first 2 weeks of the assignment
• Required to work holidays as needed by the facility
• Former permanent staff must be separated from the facility for at least 9 months before returning as a traveler
