American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a NICU/PICU day shift position at a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center, requiring RRT and PALS certification with pediatric critical care experience preferred.

Details

• Level I Pediatric Trauma Center, Teaching & Magnet Hospital with 323 inpatient beds, including 70 NICU beds
• Unit: RRT-NICU with NICU/PICU specialty preference
• Day shift, 3x12 hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
• 3 or 4 shifts per week with every other weekend required
• Guaranteed 36 hours/week with up to 48 hours available
• Floating within scope of practice to NICU/PICU/CICU across all ages; no floating to sister facilities
• No on-call requirements
• Uses Cerner charting system
• Utilizes high frequency oscillator, BiPAP, CPAP, and nasal CPAP for neonatal/pediatric patients
• Performs bronchoscopy care, tracheostomy management, and airway management procedures

Requirements

• Active RRT license required (DC license required if applicable, pending accepted but must be active before start)
• Current certifications: RRT, BLS, PALS required; NRP preferred
• Minimum 1-2 years of experience required; 3+ years recent experience strongly preferred for first-time travelers
• NICU/PICU and pediatric critical care experience preferred
• Pediatric Critical Care and NICU experience preferred
• Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Cerner charting system experience preferred
• Proficiency in ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
• Experience with medication delivery systems including nebulizers, MDIs, and aerosol setups
• Skilled in oxygen therapy including high flow nasal cannula and trach collar

Additional Information

• Provide respiratory care to critically ill neonatal and pediatric patients in NICU/PICU/CICU settings
• Work as part of a pediatric critical care team
• Complete pre-start training modules prior to orientation, averaging 20+ hours
• Scrubs must be any solid color with no logos; child-friendly attire required
• Local candidates accepted at travel rate
• Contract length available up to 26 weeks upon request during interview; otherwise 13 weeks offered
• Every other weekend and holiday coverage required, with one holiday preference accommodated
• Limited RTO available with blackout dates around major holidays
• Returning travelers must have been separated from the facility for at least 1 year
• First-time travelers considered with 3+ years of recent experience strongly preferred
