American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist II - Pediatrics with 2+ years of RT experience in NICU/PICU settings and current RRT certification for a 13-week hospital assignment.

Details

• Work in the Pediatric Respiratory Care Services department at a hospital
• Treat pediatric and neonatal patients in NICU, PICU, and related units
• Day shift schedule from 7:00am to 7:00pm
• Three 12-hour shifts per week totaling 36 hours
• 0.9 FTE position
• Uses Epic EMR
• On-call required approximately 1 weekend per 6 weeks
• Weekend coverage required approximately 6 shifts per 6 weeks
• Must be available to work Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Labor Day
• No ECMO management required for this position

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist
• At least 2 years of hospital-based experience in NICU, PICU, or similar critical care settings
• Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
• Current RRT certification through the NBRC required
• License required if applicable
• At least one of the following certifications required depending on practice area: ACLS, NRP, PALS, or CPFT
• Advanced practice certificate for moderate sedation administration may substitute for above certifications if applicable to Bronchoscopy Lab role
• Experience with mechanical ventilator management, oxygen therapy, and aerosol therapy
• Skilled in endotracheal intubation and extubation
• Experience with arterial blood gas analysis and blood glucose monitoring
• Tracheostomy care experience required
• Strong clinical documentation and communication skills
• Ability to interpret technical and clinical information and apply mathematical reasoning

Additional Information

• Administer comprehensive respiratory care including airway management, ventilator management, oxygen therapy, and aerosol therapy for pediatric and neonatal patients
• Perform tracheostomy care, tracheostomy tube changes, and endotracheal intubation/extubation
• May perform bedside pulmonary function testing as needed
• Function independently with minimal supervision and serve as a resource to other staff
• Maintain and continually improve clinical knowledge and skills
• Work within an academic medical center setting as part of a pediatric respiratory care team
