American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with a minimum of 1 year of experience for a 13-week night shift contract at an acute care facility in Weston, WI.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting covering inpatient, ER, ICU, med-surg floors, and facility emergencies in the clinic
• Primarily adult patient population with minimal pediatric and neonatal cases (ER or newborn); travelers may occasionally be asked to cover high-risk deliveries at very low frequency
• Typical caseload is 20–25 treatments per RT per shift, with 2 RTs typically working per shift
• Ventilators in use include PB980, PB840, SurvoU, LTV1200, and Hamilton; BiPAP/CPAP equipment includes V60 and Home ResMed; high-flow therapy via Optiflow
• Charting in Cerner (transitioning to Epic)
• 12-hour night shifts (1800–0600); day shifts occur on rare variable occasions and are coordinated with the traveler in advance
• Rotating weekend coverage approximately every 3rd weekend
• Rotating holiday coverage; 2 out of 3 winter holidays, every other holiday otherwise
• No on-call or float requirements

Requirements

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential via NBRC required; CRT not accepted
• Minimum 1 year of respiratory therapy experience
• Current certifications required: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), and NRP
• Proficiency with mechanical ventilators, BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow therapy, ABGs, and EKGs
• Experience assisting with intubation and inserting king airways in emergency situations
• License required if applicable — an active license must be obtained prior to the assignment start date
• 2 professional references required for consideration: 1 supervisor reference from within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and 1 peer or supervisor reference from within the last 3 years of relevant specialty experience

Additional Information

• Daily duties include basic respiratory therapies, ABGs, EKGs, BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilator management (including intubation weaning and extubation), and timely documentation in Cerner
• RTs are expected to assist with intubation and independently insert king airways in emergency situations prior to provider arrival
• Hospitalist coverage is available 24/7; intensivist is in-house for the majority of the day with eICU support overnight
• Orientation consists of 3 days: 1 day on day shift with the lead RT covering equipment, 1 day shift shadowing and reviewing the department, and a 3rd orientation day on the assigned shift
• Dark green scrubs required
• Previous travel experience is preferred
• Candidates who have previously worked at this facility must have an end date at least 6 months prior to their consideration date
• Candidates residing within 80 miles of the facility are considered local, which may affect the travel pay rate
