American Traveler is seeking a Physical Therapist with a minimum of 2 years of experience for a 13-week acute care travel assignment at a Level II Trauma Center and Certified Comprehensive Stroke Center in Salt Lake City, UT.

• Acute care inpatient PT role within a Rehab Services department at a 325-bed Level II Trauma Center and Certified Comprehensive Stroke Center
• Patient caseload of 9–14 patients per day, with a mix of neuro, multi-trauma, orthopedic, and medically complex diagnoses
• Procedures include neuro re-education, gait training, balance training, wheelchair training, cognitive re-education, vestibular training, energy conservation, BUE/BLE ROM and strengthening, orthotic use and fit, and home safety and family training
• Equipment used includes Sara Stedys, mechanical Stryker stroke/cardiac chairs, powered bariatric stroke/cardiac chairs, powered ARJO and Liko lifts, ARJO mobility devices, walkers, canes, wheelchairs, sliding boards, and adaptive equipment
• Documentation via Epic EMR
• Shifts are 10 hours; two schedule options available — Sun–Wed/Sun–Tue or Wed–Fri/Wed–Sat on a rotating basis
• Start times range from 7:00–8:30 AM; mid-shift (9:30 AM–8:00 PM) and late shift (10:30 AM–9:00 PM) ortho coverage is required on a rotating basis
• May be cross-trained to the acute rehab unit to support the OT team on high-census, low-staffing days

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of recent PT experience, with acute care experience strongly recommended and ICU experience preferred
• MSPT or DPT degree from an accredited PT program required
• Successful completion of the NPTE required
• Active Utah PT state license required; license required if applicable
• Current BLS certification required (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
• Strong understanding of neuro, multi-trauma, and medically complex diagnoses required
• Experience with mobility devices and lift systems required
• Proficiency with chart review, lab value interpretation, weight-bearing precautions, and positioning device application required
• Strong documentation, communication, time management, and teamwork skills required
• US SSN and DOB required for consideration
• One professional reference required (two references required for candidates licensed in Florida or Missouri)

Additional Information

• Evaluations must be seen or acknowledged within 24 hours of being ordered
• Therapists are expected to check in with the RN before and after every patient interaction to confirm appropriateness of services and report progress
• Total Joint and TAVR/SDS patients are primarily prepared for discharge to home, with most seen on the day of surgery
• All staff are required to wear their badge while on the clock and take a 30-minute lunch for shifts exceeding 6 hours
• Required dress code: gray scrub top and black scrub pants with closed-toed shoes; gray business casual shirt and black pants also acceptable; no logos, jeans, leggings, or shorts
• The facility is nationally recognized, holding designations including America's 100 Best Hospitals for Spine Surgery, Total Joint Certification for Hip and Knee Replacements, and Commission on Cancer Accreditation
• The department is a collaborative, close-knit team of 23 PT/PTA staff across all three rehab disciplines (OT/PT/ST) sharing a common office space
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates will not be considered
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
