Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist with 2+ years of PICU and/or Level III+ NICU experience for a pediatric/neonatal night shift travel assignment at an acute care children's hospital.

• Pediatric and neonatal acute care setting covering the NICU, PICU, floors, ED, and blood gas lab
• Patient population includes pediatric and neonatal patients
• Caseload of approximately 20–25 treatments per day
• Equipment used includes Hamilton and Servo ventilators, Respironics and Hamilton BiPAP, and Fisher & Paykel HFNC, as well as aerogen, Volara, cough assist, IPV, and NAVA
• Charting is done in Epic; experience preferred
• Night shift, 3x12-hour nights
• Weekend rotation of 6 shifts per 4-week schedule (weekends include Friday, Saturday, and Sunday shifts)
• Holiday coverage may be required
• No on-call or standby call requirement
• No floating required
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience in a PICU and/or Level III or greater NICU
• RRT credential preferred; CRT may be considered
• Current AHA BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications required
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• License required if applicable
• Must be able to assist with intubation (independent intubation not required)
• Driver's license required for consideration
• Two references required for consideration: one supervisor reference and one peer or additional supervisor reference

Additional Information

• Responsibilities encompass all aspects of respiratory care, including airway management, ventilator management, aerogen, Volara, cough assist, IPV, NAVA, and intrahospital transport
• Staffing model targets 8 RTs per shift; traveler will not be the only RT in house
• Intensivist or hospitalist is present in house
• Department-specific orientation is provided; duration is dependent on prior experience
• Preference scheduling is permitted with commitment to weekend shift requirements
• Scrub color is stone/light gray
• Candidates must live more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible for this travel position
• Travelers who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before being eligible to return
• Travelers may not work within WVU Medicine for more than one cumulative year without taking a 2-year break
• First-time travelers may be considered; prior travel experience is not listed as a requirement
