Description

American Traveler is seeking a Certified or Registered Respiratory Therapist with at least 2 years of experience for a 13-week night shift contract at an acute care hospital, working with adult or NICU patient populations.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting, Respiratory Therapy department on Floor 3
• RT will be assigned to either adult patients (ER, Med-Surg Tele, ICU) or neonatal patients (Level 2 NICU, deliveries, and newborn care) — not both simultaneously
• Adult ventilators: Dräger; pediatric/neonatal ventilators: Hamilton; high flow: Vapotherm
• Charting system: Epic (experience preferred)
• Night shift, 12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• Every other weekend required, with higher-needs weekends possible
• Holiday coverage required if it falls within the contracted period
• Travelers may float to Meridian or Boise campuses but are not the first to float — rotation is shared with core staff
• Approximately 28 procedures per 8 hours under a points-based workload system

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist
• At least 1 year of adult ICU or NICU experience required
• CRT or RRT credential via NBRC required
• Required certifications for adult assignment: BLS (AHA) and ACLS
• Required certifications for neonatal assignment: NRP
• Active state license required if applicable
• Valid driver's license required for consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include drawing and analyzing ABGs, breathing treatments, bronchopulmonary hygiene therapies (oPEP, vest therapy, etc.), and managing BiPAP, CPAP, and mechanical ventilators
• RTs assist physicians with intubation but do not perform intubation independently; bedside bronchoscopy assistance and EKGs are not part of this role
• Hospitalist coverage is available 24/7; intensivist support is provided via eICU
• Orientation is up to one week, based on experience level
• Scheduling is manager-directed; no block scheduling or special scheduling requests will be accepted
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Former permanent employees must have been separated from the facility for at least one year before being considered for a travel assignment
• No specific scrub color or dress code requirement
