American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with NICU/PICU experience and a current NC license for a 13-week night shift contract at a community hospital.

Details

• Work in a community hospital respiratory department serving a broad patient population across the Emergency Department, Critical Care ICU, and medical/surgical floors
• NICU patient population with exposure to neonatal and pediatric cases
• Specialized procedures include arterial blood gases (ABGs), ventilator and non-invasive ventilation (NIV) management, nebulizer treatments, BiPAP, CPAP, bronchoscopy, pulmonary toileting, oxygen therapy, airway management, suction, and medication administration
• EMR: Epic
• Night shift: 12-hour shifts, 18:45–07:15 (3x12)
• On-call required as needed; 3 on-call shifts per 6-week period
• Floating required as needed
• Local candidates are accepted; candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are eligible at a different rate

Requirements

• Active RRT credential required
• Active North Carolina (NC) RT license required; license required if applicable
• Minimum 2 years of relevant respiratory therapy experience
• Neonatal and pediatric experience required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, PALS
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Two professional references from a manager or supervisor within the past 2 years required prior to start (pending at time of consideration is acceptable)
• First-time travelers will be considered for this position

Additional Information

• NICU, PICU, Pediatrics, and Pediatric ED experience strongly preferred
• Labor & Delivery (L&D) experience is preferred
• Black scrubs required; not provided by the facility
• Orientation is 24 hours, held weekly
• Pre-start modules required (approximately 8–10 hours for acute care roles); modules must also be completed annually and are completed via online learning, Zoom, webinar, or in-person classes
• No RTO is permitted during the first week of the assignment due to orientation; up to 7 days of RTO may be auto-approved if it does not fall on a holiday, and anything beyond 7 days requires facility approval
• Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Previous permanent, PRN, or employee pool staff of this health system must wait 12 months before being considered as a traveler; facility rehire approval is required
• Travel pairs are allowed provided each traveler has their own transportation and is flexible with differing schedules
