American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a 13-week Cardiovascular OR (CVOR) travel assignment at a Level I Trauma Center, requiring at least 2 years of CV OR experience and the ability to scrub and/or circulate for open heart and vascular procedures.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting at a Level I Trauma Center
• Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) unit performing open heart and vascular (open and percutaneous) procedures
• Hybrid operating suite environment; familiarity is beneficial
• Team supported by three cardiac surgeons and three vascular surgeons, with 2–4 ORs in operation daily
• Average of 25–30 cases per week, with daily volume ranging from 1–9 cases depending on surgeons and scheduling
• Staffing team includes 2 surgical techs and 2 RNs who are utilized to scrub
• Day shift, 8-hour shifts; hours are 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM
• 5 x 8-hour shifts preferred; 4 x 10-hour shifts may be accommodated when volume allows, particularly for candidates willing to float to the Main OR
• Floating to the Main OR may be required on lower-volume days — this is an expectation of all team members, not just travelers
• Call is required Monday through Thursday (approximately 1–2 shifts per week depending on weekend call schedule)
• Weekend call coverage required every other weekend; staff go on call at 3:00 PM Friday through 6:30 AM Monday — no weekend shifts, call only
• Approximately 18% of cases are emergent; approximately 5% of cases occur on weekends
• EMR: Epic

Requirements

• Active NE state RN license or Compact (NLC) RN license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses will not be accepted
• Minimum 2 years of CVOR experience required; open heart experience strongly preferred
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required — pending certifications will not be accepted
• CNOR certification preferred
• Ability to circulate in the CVOR is required; ability to scrub is preferred but not required for candidates with strong CV experience
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — a valid driver's license is required for consideration and will be used to verify permanent address
• Candidates may not currently be employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) at any facility associated with CommonSpirit Health, including CHI or Dignity Health
• 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years — both must include dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
• Copy of valid driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include scrubbing and/or circulating in the CVOR, assisting anesthesia with induction, and transporting patients from pre-op to PACU or inpatient unit
• During orientation, candidates must pass an open-book skills exam with a minimum score of 90% — failure to pass will result to termination of contract
• Orientation is approximately 12 hours
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments — refusal to remove artificial nails will result in termination of contract
• Required dress code: Navy blue scrubs
• Candidates who were previously employed PRN through an outside staffing firm at a CommonSpirit facility will be considered
