American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry Float Pool position at a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital, requiring Epic proficiency and prior travel experience.

Details

• 13-week contract at a 500-bed Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma academic medical center
• Float pool assignment covering all acute care and telemetry units, including Behavioral Health and Respite
• Strong Ortho, Neuro/Stroke, and Cardiac Telemetry unit experience required due to float pool coverage
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
• Patient ratio of 1:5–6
• Every other weekend required; travelers are expected to be flexible with scheduling
• No on-call requirements
• Floating within scope is required to meet facility needs
• Shifts may be split into two separate areas (e.g., 8 hours in one area and 4 hours in another), requiring strong time management skills
• Charting via Epic (required)
• Local candidates are accepted at the same rate; no radius requirement

Requirements

• Active WA RN license or compact RN license (no pending licenses accepted)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• At least 2 prior travel assignments beyond initial hospital experience required
• Proficiency in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required
• Experience with peripheral nerve catheters preferred (high volume on ortho floors)
• Teaching hospital and trauma hospital experience preferred
• Epic EMR proficiency required
• COVID vaccination and booster required — no exceptions

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
• Prior UW Health System staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 18 months before being considered as a traveler
• A pass/fail fill-in-the-blank telemetry test will be administered at orientation
• RTO cannot be requested during orientation week and should be kept to a minimum; scheduling requests outside of approved RTO cannot be accommodated
• Block scheduling is not available
• The facility prefers not to place travel pairs together
• Any solid color scrubs are acceptable; light blue scrubs are also provided on the unit
• Onsite parking is available for a daily fee; an offsite parking option (~1 mile away) is also available on weekdays with shuttle service (5am–10pm, Monday–Friday only)
