American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU Float position requiring an active MO or Compact license, a minimum of 2 years of recent PCU experience, and the ability to float across multiple med-surg and specialty units including the ED.

Details

• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Float position in a hospital setting
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Float coverage spans multiple MS/Tele units including ED inpatient holds, Neuro Stepdown, Cardiac Telemetry, and PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 18:45–07:15
• 8 weekend shifts required per 6-week scheduling period, with shifts falling on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday
• No on-call requirement
• Block scheduling is not available for this position
• Required skills include: interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry monitoring (unit and remote), use of Rapid Response Teams, post-cardiac/angiogram/MI/cardiac cath and surgery care, IV insulin protocols, feeding tube management, pre/post hemodialysis and renal failure management, blood product administration, central/peripheral/PICC line care, phlebotomy, heparin protocols, cardiac drip management (with and without titration), PCA, procedural sedation, CVA care, peripheral nerve block catheters, total joint replacement care, surgical drain management, chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac), BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, tracheostomy management, isolation precautions, and wound care/wound vac
• Preferred skills include: port access and chemotherapy monitoring

Requirements

• Active MO or Compact RN license currently in hand; both Kansas and Missouri licenses (or Compact equivalent) are required due to potential floating between facilities
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of recent PCU specialty experience required, with at least 1 full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months and no employment gap greater than 90 days in the past year
• Previous charge RN and teaching hospital experience preferred
• 2 professional references required: one must be at supervisor level or above, the second may be a charge RN; all references must be from individuals who have worked with the candidate within the past year
• SSN required for consideration
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted

• RTO is capped at 7 days for the duration of the contract
• Completion of orientation modules (approximately 10–15 hours) is required prior to the start of the assignment
• Drug screening is required; a diluted or positive result that cannot be cleared will result in cancellation, with a 6-month waiting period before reapplication
