American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with 4+ years of experience including charge experience for a night shift position at a Level II Trauma Center acute care hospital.

Details

• Work setting is a 431-bed short-term acute care hospital designated as a Level II Trauma Center
• Adult respiratory therapy unit with floating required to the ER and Adult ICU Stepdown units
• Patient population includes adults in critical care, emergency, and stepdown settings
• Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:00
• Every other weekend required, plus every other holiday
• Mandatory on-call required: 3 shifts per 6-week period
• Block scheduling is not available
• Charting performed in Epic
• Scrubs color: Wine

Requirements

• Current RRT credential (preferred; CRTT required)
• Active Virginia (VA) state license required if applicable
• BLS and ACLS certifications required (ACLS may be obtained within 90 days of start date)
• Minimum 4 years of respiratory therapy experience with charge experience required
• Proficiency in airway management, medication administration, ABGs, O2 therapy, suctioning, pulmonary toileting, BiPAP, CPAP, and nebulizers
• Adult critical care, ER, and community hospital experience required
• Ability to provide aerosol, bronchial hygiene, and lung inflation therapies on night shift
• Skill in arterial blood gas draw and analysis, and CPAP/BiPAP implementation and management
• 2 professional supervisor references from within the past 2 years
• Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained

Additional Information

• NICU, ED, and adult ICU experience preferred, though experience in all areas is not required
• Level II Trauma Center experience preferred
• Attendance at monthly department meetings is expected when on shift; if not working, candidate must review meeting minutes and send written acknowledgment to management
