American Traveler is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) with an active Alaska license and current BLS for a 26-week assignment in a remote Alaska healthcare setting serving a diverse patient population across all age groups.

Details

• Day shift position, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
• 26-week contract assignment
• Works under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist in a rehabilitation therapy department
• Patient population includes infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients
• Hospital-provided shared housing is available on-site; shared common spaces with private bedrooms, gender-separated units, no dogs allowed — traveler coordinates directly with the facility
• Flight reimbursement is available for travel to and from the assignment (economy class only; detailed flight and luggage receipts required)

Requirements

• Active Alaska PTA license in good standing required; candidates with completed FSBPT paperwork to work as a Student PTA post-graduation while pursuing licensure may also be considered — license required if applicable
• Graduated from a CAPTE-accredited Physical Therapist Assistant education program (typically a 2-year degree)
• Current BLS/BCLS certification required
• Date of birth (DOB) and Social Security Number (SSN) required for consideration

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include administering physical therapy treatments and modalities as directed by the supervising Physical Therapist, assisting patients in restoring function and preventing disability following injury or illness
• Assists patients across the full age spectrum — from infants through geriatric — in achieving maximum performance and functional independence
• Participates in departmental performance improvement activities, infection control programs, equipment training, organizational training, and fire safety programs
• Orientation is held on Tuesday and Wednesday at the start of the assignment
• Candidates must be prepared to complete a medication calculation math test (adult and pediatric) upon arrival and prior to working
• Required competency documentation must be brought upon arrival, including: IV/Central Line Site Care, Fall Precautions, Age-Specific Competencies, Abuse/Neglect, Pain Management, Restraints and Seclusion, End of Life Care, Blood Transfusions, and current BLS
• Flight itinerary information must be submitted one week prior to start date; the facility will assist with airport pickup upon arrival but does not provide return airport transportation
• This is a remote assignment in Alaska; hospital housing is strongly recommended as it is the best available option in the area
