American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with prior travel experience, Level III/IV NICU background, and Draeger vent proficiency for a night shift position at an acute care hospital within a major academic health system.

Details

• Short-term acute care hospital with 426 staffed beds, part of a large academic health system
• Level II Trauma Center
• NICU (Level III) unit; travelers rotate through all areas of the hospital including NICU and Pediatric units based on census and staffing needs
• Patient population includes neonatal and pediatric critical care as well as adult critical care
• Night shift schedule: 4x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), every other weekend
• Holiday coverage required as needed
• Charting system: Epic (required)
• Free parking available on-site

Requirements

• Active CRT or RRT credential plus CT state license required (if applicable — CT license takes 15–21 business days to issue; candidates should apply before being considered)
• Minimum 2 years of critical care experience; at least 1 year must be in a Level III or IV NICU
• Level I Trauma Center experience required
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Prior travel experience required; candidates with assignments shorter than 13 weeks in their work history may not be eligible
• Proficiency with neonatal oscillating ventilators required
• Draeger vent experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, CRT or RRT; preferred certifications include NRP, PALS, CPFT
• 1 professional reference required
• Flu vaccination required; declinations are not accepted
• COVID vaccination required (religious or medical exemptions considered)

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include neonatal and pediatric respiratory therapy, ventilator management (including high-frequency oscillating and jet ventilators), airway management, arterial blood gas drawing and interpretation, medication delivery, and patient transport
• Travelers may be asked to assist with orienting students or new hires
• Candidates who previously worked at this facility as permanent staff must have been separated for at least 2 years to be eligible as a traveler
• Candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility are not eligible for this position
• RTO requests should be finalized prior to acceptance; up to 7 days may be approved
• Travelers are expected to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities as needed
