Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Long-Term Care position at a nursing home attached to a hospital, requiring at least 1 year of experience with elderly populations.

Details

• Work setting is a 70-bed nursing home (majority private rooms) attached to a hospital, classified as a post-acute/LTC/SNF care environment
• Patient population includes elderly residents with diagnoses such as dementia, frailty, and rehabilitation needs
• RN-to-patient ratio is 1:20; LPN ratio is 1:20; CNA ratio is 1:8
• Procedures include IV therapy, catheterization, ostomy care, assessments, medication administration, and charge duties
• EMR system is ECS (facility is transitioning from Cerner to Epic)
• 12-hour day shifts on a block schedule
• Every other weekend required
• Must be available for at least half of holidays during the assignment
• No on-call or standby requirements
• Floating may be required

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license required by start date
• Current BLS certification (AHA) required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Experience working with elderly patients required
• IV therapy experience required

• Responsibilities include charting, patient assessments, charge nurse duties, medication administration, and clinical skills such as IV management, catheterization, and ostomy care
• Interdisciplinary team includes therapy, administration, social work, activities, dietary, housekeeping, and respiratory therapy (RT on-site 24/7)
• On-site pharmacy and physician availability after hours
• Unit orientation length varies based on individual skills
• Any solid color scrubs required; attire must be clean and professional
• Candidates who have previously worked for this health system as permanent staff must have an end date at least 6 months prior to consideration, and hospital approval is required
• Candidates residing within 80 miles of the facility are considered local, which may affect the travel pay rate
• 2 professional references are required for consideration: 1 supervisor reference from within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and 1 peer or supervisor reference from within the last 3 years
