American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist with NICU, pediatric, and adult experience for a 13-week night shift travel contract at an acute care hospital utilizing Epic EMR.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting with respiratory therapy coverage across two campuses
• Patient population includes neonates, pediatrics, and adults
• Berkeley campus is a Level II NICU; NICU experience preferred for floating
• Ventilators used include Servo U, Hamilton G5, Hamilton T1 Transport Vent, Philips Respironics V60 BiPAP, AirVo, and MaxTech high-flow heated systems
• EMR: Epic
• 12-hour night shifts, 3 days per week
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend (Fri/Sat/Sun nights)
• Holiday coverage required every other holiday
• After-hours on-call shifts (Friday 7pm through Sunday 7pm) are distributed among the department by sign-up
• Floating between Berkeley and Jefferson campuses may be required
• Staffing baseline: Berkeley runs 6 RTs on days and 4 on nights; Jefferson runs 2–3 on days and 2 on nights

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapy experience
• Experience with NICU, pediatric, and adult patient populations required
• RRT required; CRT accepted if license was held prior to July 1, 2022
• Current certifications required: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), NRP
• Must be able to independently perform intubation for pediatric and adult patients
• Epic EMR experience
• COVID-19 vaccination required; medical or religious exemption requests must be submitted for approval
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel pay rates
• Candidates who previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before applying
• Candidates who have worked within the WVU system for a cumulative year must take a 2-year break before returning
• License required if applicable
• Required for consideration: 2 references (1 supervisor, 1 peer or additional supervisor), skills checklist completed within the past year, copies of certifications, and a copy of driver's license

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include patient assessment, treatment planning, O2 therapy, humidity therapy, airway management, resuscitation, mechanical ventilation, postural drainage, chest physiotherapy, BiPAP, CPAP, nebulizers, inhalers, and ABG collection
• RT staff at Jefferson perform non-ER EKGs 24/7 for both inpatient and outpatient; Berkeley RTs perform EKGs during off-hours (5pm–7am and all weekend), excluding the ER
• PFT testing is not required for this position
• A lead therapist is present on each shift; Berkeley has an assistant director and Jefferson has a supervisor available Monday through Friday during the day
• Orientation consists of approximately 3 12-hour shifts
• Gray scrubs required
• Each all-manager interview is conducted directly with the unit manager
• EKG testing (pass/fail) is required for this position
• First-time travelers are not excluded, though experience requirements should be carefully reviewed
