American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with critical care experience and at least one prior travel contract for a 17-week night shift position at an acute care hospital in Albany, GA.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting with a dedicated Respiratory Therapy unit
• Adult ICU and floor respiratory therapy coverage; NICU RTs are managed separately under nursing
• Night shift, 12-hour shifts with 6:45 PM start time
• Work schedule follows either a Monday–Thursday or Friday–Sunday team rotation
• Average caseload of 13–15 patients per shift, with approximately 550 treatment minutes per shift
• Up to 4 airways per therapist in the ICU (ventilators, heated aerosol trach off vent, etc.)
• Servo vents (U and I models) used on unit
• EMR: MEDITECH (experience preferred)
• Holiday rotation shared with permanent staff; every other holiday should be expected
• No on-call or floating required

Requirements

• RRT credential required
• Valid Georgia state RT license required if applicable
• Active BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required; NRP required for NICU assignments
• Minimum 2 years of RT experience required, with at least 1 completed travel contract
• Experience in a 300+ bed facility required
• Critical care (adult ICU) experience required
• Demonstrated proficiency and comfort with intubation required
• Experience with ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and A-line placement required
• Ability to manage high-volume, high-acuity workloads required
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
• Driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

• RT responsibilities include nebulizer treatments, airway management, Vapotherm, BiPAP, CPAP, mechanical ventilation, ABG collection, bedside PFTs, CPT, bronchoscopies, A-line placement, and blood gas management
• Respiratory therapists serve as first responders for intubation; hospitalist (MD or NP) available in-house 24/7 for code response
• Common patient diagnoses include COPD, CHF, pneumonia, respiratory failure, ARDS, and cancer
• Facility will train therapists on A-line placement; candidates must be confident in vent management suggestions and interpreting/alerting on critical ABG values
• Orientation for floor assignments is approximately 2 weeks (hospital/charting orientation in week 1, progressive treatment load in week 2); ICU assignments include an additional week of orientation
• Charge RT and Clinical Coordinator roles are present on the unit; average of 10–11 therapists on shift
• Scrub color: ceil blue only; only a ceil blue jacket may be worn over scrubs
• Candidates who have been employed at this facility within the last 12 months are not eligible for placement
• Any time-off requests must be disclosed prior to the start of the assignment
