American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele Charge Nurse position requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and prior charge nurse experience, with Epic proficiency required.

Details

• Position is on the Med Surg/Tele 7th Floor Tower of a 325-bed short-term acute care hospital
• Patient population includes post-surgical, general medical-surgical, and medical telemetry patients
• Telemetry patients are monitored remotely by an on-site Central Monitoring Unit (CMU)
• Patient ratio is 1:5
• Charting is done in Epic (required)
• Day shifts, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00–19:30)
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating is required between various like units within the traveler's skill set

Requirements

• Active WA state or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum of 2 years of RN experience required
• Prior charge nurse experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills required
• Chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac) required
• Experience with central line care, PICC line management, and peripheral line care required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• At least 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting required for consideration
• SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include caring for post-surgical and medical-telemetry patients, managing IV therapy, wound care, and various lines and drains
• Preferred skills include telemetry remote monitoring, use of rapid response/code teams, IV insulin protocols, titration of insulin drips, epidural analgesia, heparin protocols, managing cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration), PCA, tracheostomy care, wound vac, continuous bladder irrigation (CBI), and feeding tube management
• Travelers are expected to float between all facilities within the state; refusal to float may result in assignment termination
• Candidates with permanent residence within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible for a travel contract
• Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
• RTO is preferred to be kept under 7 days for the duration of the contract

• Pending WA license accepted, though quick starts are preferred
