American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Orthopedics/Med-Surg/Telemetry position requiring a minimum of 1-2 years of experience with general surgery or orthopedic background and an active MD or compact RN license.

Details

• Orthopedics/Med-Surg/Telemetry unit within a hospital setting
• Adult and geriatric patient population; adolescents with a Tanner score greater than 4 may be pre-arranged for admission to this unit
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5
• Surgical cases include complex total joints, cervical and lumbar spine fusions, foot and ankle, head and neck, colorectal, hepatobiliary, urology, and GYN surgeries
• Telemetry monitoring and EKG capability required; RN should have a solid foundation in rhythm interpretation
• Equipment used includes IV, PCA, PCEA, capnography, and wound vac
• Unit utilizes HCAHPS, white boards, bedside shift report, Zebra phone, and TigerConnect for communication
• Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00–19:30)
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage required as scheduled
• Floating required within the specialty and to lower acuity areas as needed
• No pre-scheduled on-call shifts required
• 10-week contract

Requirements

• Active RN license in the state of Maryland (MD) or a valid Compact RN license currently in hand
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• CPI certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, with strong general surgery and/or orthopedic experience
• First-time travelers with at least 1 year of relevant clinical experience and strong skills may be considered
• Block scheduling and special scheduling requests cannot be accommodated; any RTO must be submitted at the time of initial application
