American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Behavioral Health/Geriatric Psych position requiring a minimum of 1 year of geri psych and med-surg experience, Epic proficiency, and availability for night shifts including every other weekend.

Details

• Inpatient Behavioral Health unit within a hospital setting
• Unit is split into two halves — a Psychiatric side and a Behavioral side — with patient placement determined by level of cognitive ability and group participation ability
• Geriatric psychiatric patient population with diagnoses including psychosis, dementia with and without behavioral disturbances, bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, mood disorders, and acute psychiatric illness with cognitive impairment
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6 with an average daily census of 25
• Specialized procedures include Foley catheterization, wound care, IV therapy, incontinence care, and use of lift equipment; training provided for lift equipment and IV therapy
• Lift equipment and Voalte phones used on unit; panic alarms installed throughout
• Documents in Epic (experience required)
• 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM–7:30 AM, 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required to adult behavioral health unit; may also float as "helping hands" as needed
• No on-call requirements
• Locked unit that accepts involuntary patients; seclusion room available; 15-minute safety checks and 1:1 monitoring conducted as appropriate

Requirements

• Active NH or Compact RN license currently in hand
• Current certifications: BLS and CPI (AHA or Red Cross certifications only accepted)
• Minimum 1 year of geriatric psych and med-surg experience required; LTC or Rehab experience strongly preferred
• Experience on a geriatric psych inpatient unit required
• Proficiency with Epic EMR required
• Comfort and experience with high-acuity hands-on patient care including incontinence care, mobility assistance, IV fluids, wound care, and catheter management
• Two professional references required (may begin assignment with one reference pending)
• Former employees of any SolutionHealth-affiliated facility are not eligible, regardless of length of separation or time worked

• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are accepted but at a reduced local rate
• Any color scrubs are acceptable
• Perform safety monitoring including 15-minute checks and 1:1 patient observation as clinically indicated
