American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Oncology/Women's Surgical unit position in Asheville, NC, requiring 2+ years of experience, BLS, and an Oncology Nursing Certification (ONC).

Details

• Position is located on a 24-bed Oncology/Women's Surgical unit (9th floor)
• Day shift schedule: 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM
• Patient ratio of 1:4 or 1:5
• Unit staffing includes a Charge Nurse, 4–6 RNs, CNAs, and a Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) per shift
• Charting is performed in Cerner EMR
• Procedures performed on the unit include occasional pelvic exams, echocardiograms, and thoracentesis
• Staff are required to work 6 weekend days per schedule
• On-call is rare
• Floating to other Med/Surg units is possible but uncommon
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active RN license — NC or Compact license required
• Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of start)
• Oncology Nursing Certification (ONC) required for all RNs working in oncology
• Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience in oncology or the relevant specialty
• US SSN and date of birth required for consideration — Canadian SSNs are not accepted
• One professional reference required (two required if candidate is from Florida or Missouri)
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
• RN dress code: navy, white, or a combination of both colors
• Team-oriented personality is a strong fit for this unit
• Chemo certification is preferred but not required at the time of application
