Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist with 2+ years of PICU and/or Level III+ NICU experience for a 13-week pediatric/neonatal night shift travel assignment at an acute care children's hospital.

Details

• Acute care children's hospital setting in a Pediatric/Neonatal Respiratory Therapy unit
• Patient population includes pediatric and neonatal patients in NICU and PICU
• Approximately 20–25 treatments per day
• Utilizes Hamilton and Servo ventilators, Respironics and Hamilton BiPAP, and Fisher & Paykel HFNC equipment; additional modalities include Aerogen, Volara, cough assist, IPV, and NAVA
• Charting performed in Epic (EMR)
• 12-hour night shifts, 3 days per week
• Weekend rotation required — 6 shifts per 4-week schedule (Fri, Sat, and Sun shifts)
• Holiday coverage may be required
• No on-call or standby requirements
• No floating required
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience in PICU and/or Level III or greater NICU required
• RRT credential preferred; CRT may be considered
• Current certifications required: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), and NRP
• Epic EMR experience beneficial
• License required if applicable
• Driver's license copy required for consideration
• Two references required for consideration: one supervisor reference and one peer or additional supervisor reference (if permanent employment within the last 12 months, one reference must be from that facility)
• Skills checklist completed within the past year required for consideration

Additional Information

• Responsibilities encompass all aspects of respiratory care, including airway management, intrahospital transport, and operation of advanced ventilatory and aerosol therapy equipment
• Intubation assistance only — independent intubation is not required
• RT will not be the sole therapist on shift; staffing target is 8 RTs per shift
• Preference scheduling is permitted within the constraints of the weekend commitment
• Department-specific orientation is provided; duration depends on prior experience
• Scrub color requirement: stone/light gray
• Candidates must live more than 50 miles from this WVU facility to be eligible
• Travelers who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before returning; cumulative time worked within WVU Medicine counts toward the maximum 1-year limit, after which a 2-year break is required
