American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Case Management position at a Level II Trauma Center in Tacoma, WA, requiring a WA RN license, BSN, and a minimum of 2 years of acute inpatient case management experience.

Details

• Hospital-based Case Management unit within a 437-licensed-bed Level II Trauma Center and Level IV NICU facility in Tacoma, WA
• Adult inpatient population spanning ICU, PCU, Med/Surg, and ER — no pediatric, L&D, or NICU patients
• Case manager-to-patient ratio of 1:15–20
• Epic EMR is required
• Five 8-hour day shifts per week; maximum of 6 consecutive shifts scheduled
• Every other weekend rotation required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating may be required between two campuses approximately 2.5 miles apart; floating assignments are communicated at the start of the shift — mid-shift floating only occurs in emergencies
• Schedule is manager-generated and provided several weeks in advance

Requirements

• Active WA RN license (or compact license with WA privileges) required
• BSN required
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute inpatient case management experience required
• Minimum 4 years of overall nursing experience required
• Proficiency in Epic EMR required
• Strong knowledge of healthcare financial and reimbursement principles required
• ER and Utilization Review experience preferred
• Candidates whose experience is predominantly from children's hospitals will not be considered
• Two supervisory references (Charge Nurse, Manager, Director, or above) required prior to start; one reference may be submitted for initial consideration

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include post-discharge planning, providing community resources, conducting clinical interviews, and performing utilization review
• Supported on the unit by leadership, peer case managers, and CM Assistants
• Orientation is approximately 1–3 days; candidates should be prepared to engage with patients on day one, paired with another case manager RN
• At least one holiday worked is required; additional holiday shifts may be picked up voluntarily
• All RTO must be requested upfront through the manager
• Business casual dress code — scrubs are not worn
