American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with critical care experience for a night shift position at a high-volume Level I Trauma Center serving adult and geriatric patients.

Details

• 703-bed acute care teaching hospital affiliated with a medical school, designated as the region's only Level I Trauma Center (Adult & Pediatrics)
• Unit serves adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients across a high-volume ER, Neurotrauma, cardiovascular services, and medical/surgical ICU
• Patient ratio of 1:25
• Robust Assess and Treat protocol in place, including ventilator management and liberation policy
• Equipment includes Servo I, Servo U, V-60 BiPAP, Optiflow heated high flow, iNO with iNOvent, and LTV1200
• Epic EMR experience required
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7p–7a); 4x12 shifts available upon request
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend (EOW) or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block
• Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
• Floating within skillset required

Requirements

• RRT credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required; CRT not accepted
• VA Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner required; other state licenses accepted with requirement to obtain 90-day temporary authorization while VA permanent license is pending
• License required if applicable
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of critical care experience in a high-volume ER or Level I Trauma Center environment
• Experience with aerosol and medication delivery systems (mask, trach, MDI, Medihaler) and administration of respiratory medications including Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, Flovent, Pulmicort, Mucomyst, racemic epinephrine, inhaled Flolan, inhaled steroids, bicarbonate, and lidocaine
• Competency in ABG interpretation and ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, HFNC, flow-by, high-pressure alarm troubleshooting, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
• Airway management skills including extubation, oral/nasal airway placement, suctioning, sputum collection, and tracheostomy care
• Proficiency in oxygen therapy and nebulizer setups (handheld, T-piece, trach collar, ultrasonic)
• Epic EMR experience required
• Valid driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration

• First-time travelers are accepted; 1 year of prior travel experience is preferred
• Local candidates are not accepted; a radius requirement applies to this position
• Two professional references required for consideration
• Provide respiratory therapy services across a Level I Trauma Center including neurotrauma, cardiovascular, and medical/surgical ICU patients
• Hospital holds Magnet designation for nursing excellence and is certified as an Advanced Thrombectomy Capable Stroke Center
