American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with adult critical care and high-volume ED/trauma experience for a night shift position at a Level 2 Trauma Center in Saint Louis, MO.

Details

• Hospital-based respiratory therapy department serving patients throughout all areas of the facility, including SICU, CCU, CVICU, ED, Neuro, and Trauma units
• Licensed for 767 beds at a Level 2 Trauma Center, Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center, and Level 1 STEMI Center
• Patient population includes adult respiratory, critical care, and trauma patients; pediatric patients are stabilized in the ED and transferred to a sister facility
• Patient ratios are based on a point system and dependent on staffing levels
• Equipment includes Avea ventilators, LTV transport ventilators, V60 BiPAP, Bellavista (incoming), Vapotherm, and Airvo for high flow therapy
• EMR: Epic
• Night shift, 3x12 schedule, 18:30–07:00
• Weekend, call, and float requirements as needed by the facility
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• RRT license required; Missouri Board for Respiratory Care licensure required if applicable
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in respiratory therapy
• Adult critical care experience required
• High-volume, busy ED with trauma experience required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association (AHA) required
• PALS certification preferred
• Preferred skills include blood gas drawing, blood gas processing on GEM analyzer, and blood gas interpretation
• Valid U.S. Social Security Number required; Canadian SINs are not accepted
• No gaps in employment of 90 or more days within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• Provide respiratory therapy services across multiple hospital departments including critical care, cardiovascular, neuro, ED, and trauma
• Strong time management skills and willingness to collaborate with teammates are valued in this role
• Flu vaccination or Mercy-approved exemption is required for all travelers from November 1 through April 1; declinations are not accepted
• Black scrubs required per facility dress code standards
• Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are eligible but subject to a local rate adjustment
• Local candidates within 50 miles are limited to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts; after that, a minimum 1-year separation or transfer to a facility outside the 50-mile radius is required
• Up to 5 days of RTO is allowed but must be made up during the assignment
• Certifications should not be expiring within the first 30 days of the assignment unless documented renewal is scheduled
