American Traveler is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant for an outpatient clinic position in Decatur, IL, requiring an active IL PTA license and a minimum of 1 year of experience.

Details

• Outpatient clinic setting within a 372-bed, Level II Trauma, acute care hospital
• Patient population includes middle and older adults with neurological and orthopedic conditions such as post-stroke rehabilitation, total joint replacements, low back pain, spinal conditions, and a wide range of orthopedic injuries and tendinopathies
• Proficiency with WebPT EHR is required; experience with additional EMR systems is preferred
• Charting is also performed in Cerner
• Schedule is 5x8 days, Monday through Friday (8:00–17:00), with a 4x10 schedule also available
• No weekend, on-call, or floating requirements within this unit
• Free parking is available on-site with a permit obtained during orientation

Requirements

• Active Illinois PTA license required — license required if applicable
• Current BLS certification required; AHA and Red Cross accepted (RQI AHA cards not accepted)
• Minimum 1 year of experience as a PTA required
• Experience in an outpatient clinic setting required
• Experience treating neurological cases, including post-stroke rehabilitation, required
• Experience treating orthopedic cases such as total hip/knee replacements, spinal conditions, DDD, DJD, and extremity injuries required
• Proficiency in assessment skills including AROM/AAROM/PROM, strength testing, pain assessment, gait training, and vital signs required
• Experience with billing types including Medicare A & B, Medicaid, commercial, workers' compensation, and private pay required
• SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include developing and implementing home exercise programs, patient and family education, therapeutic interventions such as myofascial release, taping, extremity mobilization, and assistive/adaptive device training
• Documentation responsibilities include evaluations, plan of care, short- and long-term goals, reassessments, discharge summaries, and RUG levels
• Candidates must be prepared to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO is available; requests exceeding 5 days require facility approval
• All time off requests must be submitted at the time of initial consideration
• Former permanent or PRN employees of the Memorial Hospital System must have been away for at least 12 months before being eligible to apply as a traveler
• Travel pairs are not accepted
• First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
• Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction
• Gray scrubs or professional attire required
