American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with pediatric and NICU experience for a night shift position at a Level IV Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center in Sheboygan, WI.

Details

• 120-licensed-bed acute care hospital that is a Level IV Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center
• Respiratory Therapy department covering multiple units including ICU/CCU stepdown, inpatient cardiac, med/surg, behavioral health, and a very active ED with a high pediatric volume
• Level 2 NICU (highly preferred)
• Common diagnoses include COVID, COPD, ETOH detox, overdose, ARDS, pneumonia, influenza, CHF, lung cancer, stroke, RSV, and trach/vent patients
• Approximately 2–5 ventilated patients daily across ED and ICU
• 1:1 patient ratio
• EKGs performed up to 10 times per shift
• Procedures include ABG punctures, airway and ventilator management, and administration of inhaled medications (MDI and nebulizer)
• Equipment used: Hamilton C1 (noninvasive, invasive, and high-flow), Airvo high-flow, and Servo-U ventilator for all vented patients
• EMR: Epic
• 12-hour night shift, 5:00 PM – 5:00 AM
• Every 4th weekend rotation per the shift header; scheduling details indicate every 3rd weekend
• Holiday coverage on a rotation basis, with expectation of 1 summer and 1 winter holiday
• Floating throughout the hospital to all units is required

Requirements

• Current RRT credential
• Active state license required if applicable
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP (required due to NICU transport responsibilities)
• Minimum 1 year of respiratory therapy experience in the unit specialty area, with most recent experience within the last year
• Pediatric experience required; Level 2 NICU experience highly preferred
• Proficiency in airway and ventilator management, ABG punctures, MDI and nebulizer therapy, and code blue response
• EKG competency required
• Epic EMR experience
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Team consists of 2 RTs on nights and 3 RTs on days, with a charge RT on every shift who may carry a lighter assignment
• An RT educator and a day-shift manager are available for support
• Orientation is 2–3 days up to one week depending on individual comfort level
• Schedule is set in 8-week cycles and provided 3 weeks in advance
• Up to 7 days of RTO may be approved, with the possibility of extending the contract to accommodate
• No on-call or callback requirements
• Scrubs may be any color; professional appearance required; cartoons and t-shirts are permitted
