Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with at least 2 years of experience for a night shift position at a large acute care teaching hospital, with Epic proficiency and advanced airway management skills required.

Details

• Short-term acute care teaching/trauma facility with 1,259 staffed beds
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 18:45–07:15
• Every third weekend required
• Floating within scope of practice to meet facility needs is required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Advanced airway management procedures including endotracheal tube placement/suctioning, extubation, tracheostomy/suctioning, oral and nasal airway management, and sputum specimen collection
• Medication administration including Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, Inhaled Flolan, Inhaled steroids, Lidocaine, Nitric Oxide (iNO), Pulmicort, Racemic epinephrine, and Xopenex
• Medication delivery via aerosol mask/trach setup and metered dose inhaler
• Nebulizer types used: hand-held, T-piece, trach collar, and ultrasonic
• Oxygen therapy including High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
• Ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, troubleshooting high pressure alarms, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
• ABG interpretation required

Requirements

• Current RRT credential required
• BLS (BCLS) certification required
• Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapy experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Valid Missouri state license required for consideration; pending Illinois license acceptable if applicable — license required if applicable
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible

Additional Information

• Medium to dark gray scrubs required
• RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract period; no RTO during the first week of orientation
• Former permanent employees of this facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Standard travelers may work up to 18 months consecutively, after which a 3-month break is required
• Allied travelers may work up to 12 months consecutively, after which a 6-month break is required
• Parking passes are available on a monthly basis at varying costs depending on lot; night shift workers may park in employee parking at no charge
