American Traveler is seeking an experienced Acute Care Physical Therapist with 18+ months of experience and Cerner proficiency for an inpatient hospital setting in Indiana.

• Inpatient Physical Therapist role within a short-term acute care hospital with 300 staffed beds
• Works across ICU, cardiac intensive care (CIC), NICU, orthopedic, neurological, and surgical units
• Focus is on preparing patients for discharge to home or another facility
• Daily patient load of 8–10 patients
• Day shift, 5x8-hour shifts (8:30 AM – 5:00 PM)
• Charting performed in Cerner
• No on-call or weekend requirements
• No floating requirement within or outside the unit
• Local candidates accepted for this Allied position
• Free parking on-site
• Scrub color: black pants and royal blue scrub top

Requirements

• Minimum 18 months to 2 years of acute care physical therapy experience required
• Required skill areas include: acute care, home exercise programs, lifting and transfer, medications, patient and family education, safety and injury prevention, geriatrics, medical-surgical, neurology, orthopedics, adaptive devices, AROM/AAROM/PROM, arousal and attention, assistive devices, body mechanics, identifying environmental barriers, pain assessment, sensory response, skin integrity, strength testing, and vital signs
• Preferred experience in: rehabilitation hospital, billing, cardiopulmonary, ER, ICU, and oncology
• Current BLS certification required; both AHA and RQI are accepted
• Active Indiana or Compact PT license required; license required if applicable
• Cerner EMR experience required
• Degree from a university accredited by ACEN or CCNE at the time of graduation required

Additional Information

• Primary responsibilities include evaluation and treatment of inpatient populations in preparation for discharge to home or a post-acute facility
• Works collaboratively with nursing, case management, occupational therapy (OT), and speech therapy (ST)

• Former permanent or PRN employees of IU Health must have a 12-month gap before being eligible to apply as a traveler
• Indiana-licensed RNs are not permitted at IU Health facilities; this restriction does not apply to Allied positions such as this PT role
