American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with 4 years of experience and Trauma Level II background for a PICU night shift travel assignment at an acute care Magnet hospital in Alaska.

Details

• Acute care Magnet hospital with 152 staffed beds
• PICU unit serving a high-acuity patient population including Level 2 ER, PICU, NICU, CCU, and floor therapy patients
• Patient diagnoses include respiratory therapy cases, trauma, cystic fibrosis, ARDS, pneumonia, RSV, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, and fresh tracheostomy
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Floating required within scope to cover CCU, Flex Unit, SDU, PEDS, PICU, PCU, and FBS
• Specialized equipment includes Servo U, V60, and High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
• Charting via Cerner (required); Epic preferred
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:00), with possibility to fill in day shifts if necessary
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call required
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• RRT credential required; CRT accepted
• Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NRP, PALS
• Minimum 4 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist
• Trauma Level II experience required
• PICU, NICU, and Adult ICU experience preferred
• Cerner charting experience required; Epic preferred
• Prior completed travel assignment required — first-time travelers will not be considered
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
• AK state license required prior to start; compact license accepted at time of consideration
• NRP certification copy required for consideration
• COVID vaccination acknowledgment required

Additional Information

• Provide respiratory therapy to critically ill pediatric and neonatal patients including ventilator management, airway management, and pulmonary hygiene
• Administer a wide range of inhaled and respiratory medications including Nitric Oxide (iNO), Inhaled Flolan, racemic epinephrine, and others
• Perform and assist with procedures including intubation assist, bronchoscopy, bubble CPAP, oscillating ventilator management, capillary blood gases, and neonatal inter-departmental transports
• Support high-risk deliveries and manage neonatal/pediatric respiratory equipment and procedures
• Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and perform chest physiotherapy
• Work across adult critical care, emergency department, NICU, and pediatric critical care settings
• Orientation modules are completed onsite and recorded via HealthStream, averaging 4–5 hours
• Scrubs may be any color or pattern
• No cost parking available on-site
• Candidates who have previously worked at this facility must have been away for at least 2 years before returning as a traveler
