Description

American Traveler seeks a Speech-Language Pathologist with acute care and oncology experience for an inpatient and outpatient hospital setting, with proficiency in modified barium swallow studies required.

Details

• Work in an acute care hospital serving both inpatient and outpatient oncology patients
• Caseload includes medically compromised adults, mainly with head and neck cancers
• Average of 6-9 patients per day
• Conduct cognitive rehabilitation, swallowing evaluations, and collaborate on diet upgrades
• Day shift schedule: three 8-hour shifts weekly, Tuesday through Thursday, with potential for a fourth shift as needed
• Epic EMR is used for documentation

Requirements

• Active state SLP license required at time of consideration (license required if applicable)
• Current BLS and MBSImP certifications required
• At least 1 year of experience as an SLP in acute care and adult outpatient settings
• Experience with modified barium swallow studies, dysphagia management, and tracheostomy/ventilator-dependent patients
• Ability to perform and interpret modified barium swallow studies and provide patient feedback
• Knowledge in assessing and treating a range of communication and swallowing disorders
• Strong documentation skills and experience with Epic EMR
• CCC-SLP and FEES certification preferred

Additional Information

• Main responsibilities include assessment and treatment of speech, language, swallowing, and cognitive communication disorders in adults recovering from surgery and chemotherapy
• Coordinate care with dieticians and other team members for optimal patient recovery
• Majority of work is performed independently; no new graduates considered

• 24-hour unit orientation provided at start
• Light grey scrubs are required and not provided by the unit
