American Traveler is seeking an experienced Registered Respiratory Therapist for a NICU/PICU night shift assignment with recent high-frequency ventilation experience.

Details

• Work in a pulmonary department serving NICU and PICU patient populations
• Care for critically ill neonatal and pediatric patients as well as adult, progressive care, and general pediatric cases
• Initiate and manage high frequency oscillation and jet ventilation
• Night shift: 12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Floating required to other care areas within the facility and to alternate locations within 20 miles
• On-call, weekend, and holiday shifts are required
• Uses Epic EMR; prior experience preferred but on-site training available
• 13-week contract assignment

Requirements

• Associate’s degree or Diploma in Respiratory Care required
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from NBRC required
• Current New Mexico Respiratory Care Practitioner License required if applicable
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP or NALS certifications required (American Heart Association, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross)
• At least 2 years combined recent experience in NICU and PICU required
• 6-12 months of adult critical care, progress care, medical surgical care, and general pediatrics experience required
• Demonstrated experience with high frequency oscillation and jet ventilation within the past 2 years
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English

Additional Information

• Provide advanced cardiopulmonary diagnostics and respiratory therapies for neonatal and pediatric intensive care patients
• Adapt to a fast-paced environment and work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
• A pass/fail cardiac arrhythmia test will be administered on the first day of orientation and must be passed (one retake allowed; failure results in termination)
• Must be flexible in work assignments and shifts as needed by the department
• Return staff must have a 1-year gap from previous permanent employment to be eligible
