Description

American Traveler is seeking a NICU/PICU Respiratory Therapist with at least 2 years of experience and strong pediatric and neonatal critical care skills for a night shift travel assignment.

Details

• Position is in NICU and PICU respiratory therapy units
• Cares for neonate, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patient populations
• Shifts are 12-hour nights from 6:30 pm to 6:30 am, 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend and major holiday coverage required
• May be required to cover the Emergency Department
• Uses Servo U, Jet, and Oscillatory Ventilators as well as conventional equipment
• No local candidates within a 50-mile radius will be considered
• On-call coverage required (24 hours per 6 weeks)

Requirements

• Active VA Respiratory Care License required if applicable
• RRT or CRT credential required
• Minimum 2 years of recent NICU/PICU respiratory therapy experience required
• Certification in BLS, PALS, and NRP required
• Completion of an approved Respiratory Therapy program
• Strong skills in ventilator operation and assessments
• Must be able to work independently and as part of a team

Additional Information

• Responsible for providing invasive and non-invasive respiratory care under physician supervision
• Expected to evaluate cardiopulmonary function, manage airways, perform extubation, and assess treatment effectiveness
• Physical demands include frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 20 lbs
• Holiday and weekend work is required as part of the regular schedule
• Frequent exposure to typical patient care environment conditions
• Pass/fail EKG testing required on the first day with two attempts allowed
• Candidates must not reside within 50 miles of the facility
