Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (CRT or RRT) for a rotating night shift critical care position requiring ventilator proficiency and one year of experience is preferred.

Details

• Work in a hospital setting covering ER, ICU, CVICU, step-down, and med-surg floors
• Rotating 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend required
• Unit typically staffs 4-5 RTs per night based on volume
• Assignments may include multiple floors depending on patient load, with 40-50 units covered per shift
• Use of 980 ventilators, high flow and heated high flow nasal cannula, and administration of both nebulized and inhaled medications

Requirements

• Current license with the Ohio Respiratory Care Board required if applicable
• BLS certification required
• ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications required
• Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy required; bachelor's degree preferred
• CRT or RRT credential accepted
• One year of experience preferred
• Competence in intubation and arterial line insertion required where applicable
• Cannot accept local candidates living within a 50-mile radius

Additional Information

• Provide respiratory care for geriatric, adult, adolescent, child, and neonatal patients
• Assist with tracheostomies, bronchoscopies, bronchial alveolar lavage (BAL), arterial lines, intubations, and diagnostic testing procedures
• Participate in multidisciplinary teams regarding cardiopulmonary status
• Educate patients on disease state, wellness, home care, safety, mobility, and medication
• Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record
• Must demonstrate awareness of budgetary processes and proper equipment use
• Pass/fail EKG testing will be administered on the first day with two attempts to pass and study guides provided
• NICU experience not required but preferred
• Follow hospital and regulatory agency standards for respiratory care practice
